![]() ![]() Subtlety and discretion are paramount in these conversations it's not a volume fight on a subway train, it's very personal indeed, in physicality and in content. ![]() Full boom, straight to mouth, that's all. A full boom! How would I know that I'd need this without some less-than-ideal experience? I know, I know, the microscopic condenser mics in these ~6cm are so sensitive, and oh man that's such a long lever, blah blah blah.I'll take care of what the software is listening to, but this use case involves alternating among using hands in human-scale effort, conversing with people, then dictating to a computer. Single-touch mute/unmute, strongly preferably upon the lateral aspect of the earpiece, so that switching ears doesn't change the position of the button (so much duh! who builds these things so thoughtlessly?!).So that means my list keeps getting longer, of course! Sorry (not really) to necro a thread, but if you'd indulge me again, I'll go straight away to your site and buy what you recommend. Silly IT man, what were you thinking? I bought a competitor's product, and it turned out to be a huge disappointment in form factor and in function. ![]() so, just because I wanted to get all touchy-feely with a $xxx piece of hardware before I committed, I did the silly thing and went to my nearest Big Box retailer. ![]() Long term I hope we can move dictation off of the dedicated devices and onto either mobile phones or headsets. I've looked into BigHand, which seems better suited to a mobile workforce, but I haven't implemented it. Now that he's on a Surface Pro 4 I should see if he'd be interested in trying again with a bluetooth headset. With industry specific vocab, the "training" seems pretty minimal these days. The issue ended up being that dictation was being done into the dedicated Olympus device (which plays very well with Dragon, by the way, and the sound quality on the DS-7000 is very good) a separate device just didn't fit with his workflow. but, one of our savvy young attorneys recently really liked using the Legal specific version of Dragon 12.x. Our law firm mostly just uses Olympus dictation devices and transcription software for manual transcription by staff because Dragon wasn't mature enough as a product way back when they tried it out the first time. TL DR You might also check out BigHand in lieu of Dragon. I wanted to weigh in yesterday, but I was swamped. ![]()
